Wildlife watching in Vancouver?

I will be traveling through Vancouver early next week and would like to check out some marine wildlife. The whale watching tours look very expensive. Are there any cheap options for viewing some marine wildlife in Vancouver?

I wouldn’t recommend a whale watching tour if it is out of your price range (especially since you may not even see any whales).
Some other options include scoping out the beaches, checking out the Capilano Salmon Hatchery in North Van, or visiting the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park. The aquarium focus on native marine life, so it’s pretty neat in that regard (not exactly wildlife though, sorry)
