Travelling to New Zealand in March/April?

Hi, I am planning a trip to New Zealand by myslef in mid March or Early Aug. I am planning to fly from Toronto or Buffalo and stay to a total of 3 weeks. The last week of my trip will be in Geelong Aust. to visit a Friend.

I am looking at booking a tour,….and wanted some suggestions on what Touring Company to book with. I am 38 year old female. (already married with kids) I want something safe, relaxing, and filled with wonderfull things to do. A 10 -12 day tour would be great. I haven’t done any homework online as of yet,…..so I am also wondering what the “must see’s” are. I love beautiful scenery, great beaches, and fun things to do. However, I also want to relax if need be. What is the weather like in March there…..????
Any suggestions, tour referrals, or advice is appreciated.

Keeping in mind, I need to fly to Australia for the last week.
Thanks everyone

I did a yahoo search for NZ tours, and also went to the NZ Yahoo page http://nz.yahoo.com/ for the same search, and came up with some different possible answers. Check it out for yourself. One that appealed to me was
http://toursnz.co.nz/tips.htm and another, http://www.thriftytours.co.nz/tt/tours.cfm gives details of how many days each of their tours will take

March is still a bit summery, and August the end of winter. Read more at http://www.wildernessmotorhomes.co.nz/newzealandweather.php and
http://www.tourism.net.nz/new-zealand/about-new-zealand/weather-and-climate.html#climate This second site also has links for Maori tourism.

I spent 4 weeks in Australia, travelling alone, staying in female dorms at backpacker hostels. Hostels have details of all tours and “must see’s”, and I went on quite a lot of excursions, mostly one-day, though longer ones were available. It was a magical holiday, and I’m sure the same could be done in NZ.

As your last week will be in Geelong, you might want to base your NZ holiday in an area which has an airport flying to Melbourne – for example, Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.
