Trips for single travellers?

I’m visiting dubai in a few days to see some friends. However there’ll be working so was wondering if there are any travel / tour companies out there which do trips for people travelling alone. I’d really like to go out to the desert but would like to do it with other people….anyone know of anything?
I’m staying with my friends. I[‘ve tried google and Dubai time out, but theres nothing specific for people travelling alone. All the companies require bookings of at least 4 people on any of the trips!

The best travel agent is Dnata, the best tour operator is Arabian Adventures. With the latter you can book a desert trip in almost any major hotel (a big branch is in Jumeirah beach hotel). They will do the tour only with 4 pax or more but no worries the hotels are booked well and the other three are always there. Arabian Adventures is part of the Emirates Airlines Group and the tours are well organized, the drivers are skilled, the vehicles are safe and you survive the food they serve in their desert camp (no, I#m not working for them). Otherwise, what to do alone? If you’re a woman, don’t go to certain places (e.g. bars in Bur Dubai at night as they are full of hookers). No problem in attending any bar of the beach hotel alone, they are safe. If you’re a guy: vice-versa… ;-)
Given the fact that you’ll be in an aarbic, islamic country, you’ll be quite safe. Bring light clothes, it’s hot already (40°C, no idea what’s that in °F) but not too light, that wouldn’t be appreciated on the streets. Go to the desert, make a day trip to the mountains (e.g. fossil rock), see the blue souk and desert museum in Sharjah. Don’t miss a night om the creek (before that, see the Dubai museum, it’s very close), afterwards, have a beer at Sherlock Holmes pub in Arabian Courtyard hotel (no worries, no hookers there…). Take an abra ride (water taxi, cost per ride Dhs. 0.50 = USD 0.15) over the creek, see the gold souk in Deira on take the abra back). If you have someone who drives you, go to Bab Al Shams Desert Resort for a drink om their roof top terrace (dinner is too expensive there, you’ll get it better and cheaper in the desert camp of Arabian Adventures). For a day trip, Al Ain (Oasis City about 100 mls away from Dubai) is nice. see the camel market and have lunch on the panoramic terrace of the Mercure Hotel on Jebel Hafeet. What else? Shopping for fakes in Karama (they’re really good, you’ll find a great “copy watch” for around USD 40 and it actually works for quite some time). The lebanese restaurant in the Meridien Airport Hotel is quite an experience (food, belly dance, music). Forget Burj Al Arab (too expensive) but see the neighboring hotels Al Qasr and Mina A’Salaam, they’re breathtaking.
Have a great trip, I hope this helps.
