International Flight advice?

I need to fly to Frankfurt, Germany this summer from either LAX or ONT, departing as early in June as possible (no earlier than the 8th) and returing approx. 2 months later in as late as August as possible (no later than August 31st). I searched through travel websites and the cheapest flights I could find were over $1200. I know the price of plane tickets are different depending on when you by them in relation to when the departure is. When would be the best time to buy tickets to fly during these dates for the cheapest possible price? I don’t care about what airline its on or the flight duration time, only how cheap it is.

Summer is peak season, and thus, the most expensive.
Other than suggesting that you try and fly jetBlue to New York first (about $119 each way), and look for cheaper fares from there … the only help I can offer is to check sites like hotwire.com and sidestep.com
