What should be on a list of needed items for breastfeeding?
I’m looking around at garage sales, ebay and stores to find bargains on breastfeeding supplies and I wondered if anyone out there has had to pump at work and if so — what are the items that you suggest that I look for other than pads, bottles and a good pump? Also, any suggestions on really good travel pump brands would be helpful. I once used an electric Medela at home but it barely worked. The manual pumps I can barely get more than 2 oz out!The only pump I’ve used so far is the hospital grade pump that actually works – but I can’t drag such a heavy and monstrous item to work. Any ideas?
It’s not milk production that is an issue here – it’s getting the milk out. My previous babies got plenty to eat – I just can’t find a way to pump that gets the milk out in a reasonable amount of time other than a hospital grade pump.
You can bring the hospital grade pump to work and leave it in a desk or cabinet, or even your car if you have to. Then just bring the bottles back and forth in a cooler with you, and take the pump parts home every once in a while to wash in the dishwasher (otherwise, just wash with soap & water in the sink). HTH!
