Accommodation in New York at Christmas?

I really want to go to New York to see the Christmas decorations. I was going to go last year, but never did. My Mom says we must go further, but I said I want to see her at Christmas. She wants a really nice, but a cheap hotel. Are there any good places like Manhattan or otherwise the best shops? I think we are traveling by train so if you find a good hotel and the supply of trains would be great. How long do the stores keep Christmas decorations up? I know they are up in January. Does anyone know of any good guide book to help? I would love all the help could get. Please give me information, along with web sites. Thanks!

I spent last winter in New York, and I definitely recommend it because it is looks great with Christmas decorations. It was a trip I will never forget. My family and I were on a budget, so we stayed at a Days Inn in Woodbridge, New Jersey. By car, Woodbridge is 30 minutes from New York. The price of the hotel was cheap (about $ 60 per night) and went to look decent (nothing too fancy, but I do not care – After all, only used it to sleep, shower and breakfast). Since you are traveling by train, the location is very convenient because Metropark Station is only 3 miles from the hotel, and this station has access to Amtrak. In addition, you need a way to reach New York, and you can take a train there. It takes about 45 minutes and leave you in the New York Penn Station in the heart of Manhattan. There you have the option of taking the subway, if you want to visit sites distant (like Central Park, take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty, or go to the Museum of Natural History). Take the train and the subway was an adventure for my family and me, and made tourist experience much better. Plus the fact you get to see Penn Station, which resembles one, metro small airport. As for the hotels in Manhattan, Forget, if you want a cheap. When I looked for one, the cheapest I found was about $ 100, we could not afford to pay if we wanted to continue for 8 nights. As for Christmas decorations, when we were still on 4 January. It is likely to keep them a little more, because many tourists want go at this time of year to see the decorations.
