Spring break in Greece/Italy? Advice?
I am going to visit 4 Greek islands as well as Rome and Pompeii over spring break. This is my second time traveling across the ocean, but I am going in a tour group so my schedule is already planned out. Has anyone been to these cities and have any suggestions or advice? We are traveling by bus through Italy and cruise ship to Greek islands (Mykonos, Santorini, and 2 others). We are in change of handling our own lunches, so if anybody also knows about any good lunch stops that would he helpful as well. Thanks so much!
my idea of lunch is a small loaf of bread, fresh fruit, mortadella (balogna-NOT!) a dish of marinated olives and cheese all from a grocery store.
and expresso anywhere you can grab one!! walking around ancient rome is great. next to the colosseum is a touristy-looking cafe with the world’s best coffee. their expresso is so strong it burned my throat like pepper! don’t be afraid to eat street food. it is always good. if it is not a seasonal thing, try the chestnuts from the street vendors.
the public transport is small, but so is rome. do go to the vatican. rome is real heavy in history. take pictures of everything, of course, with u in front!
sorry i forgot! in rome, (or anywhere) watch for gypsies carrying “babies” on crowded buses. one baby began feeling my breast pocket with its feet. i grabbed at its “foot” and the lady left the bus. it of course was her hand!!!
