Dunn's
River Falls is almost synonymous with the name Ocho Rios. It is
perhaps the most celebrated spot, 15 minutes drive west of Ocho
Rios. A much climb and photographed attraction - it's breath-taking.
The waterfalls cascade over limestone tiers down to natural pools
that form in the rockface and the beautiful Caribbean Sea below.
Dunn's River is also historically interesting. The Spaniards called
this place "Las Chorreras" meaning the waterfalls or springs.
It is believed to be the site of the battle of "Las Chorreras"
in 1657 between the Spanish and the English for possession of the
island.
This 600ft waterfall offers a challenging climb up and down but
don't be discouraged if you are not athletic for it is easier than
it looks and experienced guides are willing to assist. The waters
gushing down while you climb offer a stimulating shower. When you
reach the top you can feast on the panoramic views of the surrounding
area and shop at the craft shops for T-shirts and magnificent Jamaican
hand-craft souvenirs.

The Dunn's River Falls Park is and ideal location for fun and relaxation
for the entire family - picnic facilities are provided. For those
who love to revel in nature's gifts, get lost in lush tropical foliage
- ferns, bamboo, ginger lilies, crotons, orchids and a variety of
palm and breadfruit trees. After climbing up and down the falls
you can visit the cafeteria, there are sumptuous delights to please
every taste and replenish the energy level.
A visit to Dunn's River Falls is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
