Ef Tours For Adults

Help planning trip to europe?
Hello.
My IB class is planning a trip to europe for our 2010 graduation and we need so tips on how to make it more economical.
We recently got a price quote from EF tours, they charge $3133 per student and $3548 for adults, here’s the itinerary:

is that a reasonable price?
what are some other companies that plan tours?
is it cheaper to use one of these companies or to just get a travel agent and do it ourselves?
also, what are some tips to save money when traveling to europe?
thank you

I think that is expensive. I would follow that rough itinerary and do it myself. If you stay in hostels it’s much cheaper and 4 of you could stay in a room with an ensuite for about 20 euros a head. Skip the nightly dinners, you can eat on a budget in europe and you will be overcharged for your meals on a tour. You don’t need those additional tours in Pisa – go look at the tower and leave, trust me there is nothing there. Some of the “inclusions” listed are free – Parque Guell, perfume factory (i went to one and it was a waste of time), St Peter’s, Notre Dame, Duomo, basically any church (Vatican you need to pay for or go for free on the first sunday of the month).
If you want to do sightseeing tours then you can book these when you arrive at your accommodation. Hostels do either free walking tours or charge about 10 euros – ask for a big group discount!
Unless you have a particular reason for wanting to visit Avignon, it is quite unimpressive (nothing like the image you will have in your head – I arrived there and left after two hours and I had intended to stay overnight)
Flamenco show – look on the internet (or ask when you get there) and find a restaurant that has flamenco included in the meal price.
At the end of the day, an organised tour takes away a lot of the stress, but you pay for this and end up with a very structured trip and a lot of things that you are paying for and don’t really need or could get for a lot cheaper once you get there.
One thing you may want to look at is “Busabout” you pay for all your travel upfront, then choose your destinations, time you wish to stay there and accommodation as you go. It’s quite an economical way to travel.
Good luck.
