get out of town travel
Places to hang out around Cape Town?

Hi. I’m currently in Johannesburg on holiday, and will be traveling to Cape Town tomorrow afternoon for two weeks. I’ve already posted a separate question asking about things to do on Christmas Day and New Years day, as I will be there for both, but I felt that this constituted a separate question.

What are some great places around town to eat, chill out, or just be entertained? Are there any events going on in the city that I should be aware of? Anyone feel like hanging out next week? Ha.

I’ve done my fair share of research already, but it can’t hurt to get some ideas from locals or regular visitors. I’m from New York and spend loads of time in London, so I’m more of a city guy, but will visit the beach for sure a couple of times.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Asoka -a cocktail bar next door to Saigon Restaurant in Kloof street is a great place to go. On tuesdays they have a resident jazz band. Lovely atmosphere, I’d recommend it. http://www.asokabar.co.za

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa -very expensive to stay at but lovely to go for sun-downer drinks as it’s almost right on the coast. http://www.12apostleshotel.com/

Sinnful Ice-cream Emporium in Camps Bay. Yum!

The Old Buscuit Mill -Woodstock -fresh food and craft market
